The Treehouse
Highland Park, Illinois
The clients, who raised their family in the area, approached this project as their last move—a home with no extra rooms, no just-because spaces, nothing that didn’t serve their day-to-day life. Perched among mature trees with sweeping lake views, the architecture feels almost treehouse-like—elevated, airy, and deeply connected to its surroundings.

The ANDREA GOLDMAN team’s task was to step back just enough. Furniture was chosen to be deeply comfortable yet visually quiet, always in service to the view. The screened-in porch functions as the heart of the home, the place they live in most, with intentional seating moments—often just two chairs—positioned in dialogue with the landscape. Throughout the house, the design honors their clarity of purpose as every space is intentional and nothing distracts from what matters most—being together.
