Embracing the Lake
Winnetka, Illinois
For a couple with grown children and a deep love of the water, this Lake Michigan home needed to feel like both a refined primary residence and a no-fuss lake house that encourages those multi-generational gatherings. They had purchased a home with promise, but the layout and mood didn’t reflect how they spent their time, splitting the year between Illinois and Florida, and hosting family whenever the shoreline called them all together. The ANDREA GOLDMAN team stepped in not just to clarify the aesthetic, but to recalibrate the house around a connection to the view and grown-up fun.

Inside, subtle nautical references replace theme with texture. Think shiplap walls, layered metals, rope and twine details, and a spectrum of blues that echo the lake just beyond the windows. Spaces for entertaining are threaded throughout the home, from elevated living areas to a whimsical lower level complete with a neon Rosé All Day sign, pool table, dart board, wet bar, and inviting TV room. No corner feels too precious, yet everything feels considered. The house now mirrors its owners’ lifestyle—sociable, relaxed, and always oriented toward the water.
